It's been a inconsistent and a consistent challenge.
This past weekend was surprisingly consistent. He kept his pull-up dry for long periods of time and even while we were out, he said "Mommy, I have to go potty!" This is something he hardly ever does. We're usually the ones asking him if he needs to go. Not this time. He was very vocal and in control of his "potty needs".
At bedtime last night I put an extra blanket underneath him just in case he wet his pants, which is something he usually does during the night.
I wake up to him nudging me on the arm and standing next to my bed. It was 4 am and I had to wake up for work in 2 hours. "Oh please don't wake me up right now", I thought. I looked at him and he said, "Mommy, I pee-peed." I got up and immediately started feeling his pants and to my surprise, he was completely dry. I said, "No you didn't." Then he said, "I did! In the potty!"
I couldn't believe it! I was so happy and so proud of him. He has never woken up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. And I was so surprised that he didn't even bother to wake me up.
He's growing up way too fast!
Your son is cute. Kids do grow up way too fast. I have a newphew who I constantly babysit and I am sad he is already growing up and going to school and everything.
ReplyDeleteCongrats that your son is finally offically potty trained.
I'm worried about potty training too. Congrats on the milestone!! I bet you're one proud mommy!
ReplyDeletehow old is he? My baby is 20 months now and I 'kinda sorta' started potty training her... well not really... it's just that we're not home enough for me to concentrate on it fully.. Here I am thinking maybe we can stay home for at least a week and you're telling me it takes wayyyy more than that... u need to give me tips :)
ReplyDeleteHi Melody! You might have much better luck with her since she's a girl. My cousin potty-trained her daughter in a week just like how you're planning to do. Go for it! I think it took long for my son because he just wasn't fully ready and boys tend to take way longer than girls do. Good luck! :)
DeleteGood job boy! Congrats! Potty training a kid is not an easy job at all..Meanwhile i love his picture above..
ReplyDeleteWow that is so awesome he did that all by himself!! See, it all pays off in the end, you're doing a great job :)
ReplyDeleteWell that's a great wake up! One of my twins potty trained over Christmas break, and he's 100% w/ #1 and 0% w/ #2. So frustrating!
ReplyDeleteThat's GREAT!!! Isaak goes through stages. Some weeks he's dry. Then all the sudden he's wet, wet, wet. Right now he's in a wet stage. We notice he wets more when he's growing. He eats and drinks a lot and has to release it somehow. My oldest was so much easier!
ReplyDeleteI love that bubble bath picture.
My 4 yr old still forgets the potty sometimes and I totally get your frustration, but what a great wake up call your son gave you. Congrats!
ReplyDeletefantastic! i am proud of your little boy, too. :)
ReplyDeleteglad you got on the blog-hop board. :) hope you have a great day!

That's amazing! When did you start?
ReplyDeleteAll I've done so far is BUY a potty. It's been far too long since I last potty trained...sigh.
Success!!! We're currently in a potty training lull and I'm loving it! I am not a gifted potty trainer. And I'm too lazy to train my kids at all in the night. I just let them wear pull ups at night for as long as they want. Thankfully, my girls gave them up at 3 and 4.
ReplyDeleteYay, that's wonderful, how old is your son?
ReplyDeleteYay!! Aren't you so proud. Ava surprisingly started pretty early, I wasn't planning on starting but I guess he was just ready. I still don't trust her out side of the house with out a pull up on. And at night she's also in a pull up, but she young only 2
