10 years gone by too fast

Last Saturday, I attended my 10 year high school reunion. Yikes, right? It still feels like yesterday when I was in high school. Where did the time go?

When I got the Facebook invitation for the reunion, I suddenly felt...old. Not only was I reminded that it's been that long since I was a high school student, but I was also reminded that I'm 2 years shy of the big 3-0 birthday. Great.

I was very reluctant to attend my reunion. For one thing, I'm already friends with the people I need and want to keep in touch with from high school...and we have Facebook already. Isn't that like a mini reunion right there? Well, I was somehow convinced to go and didn't even have to pay for my ticket since a dear friend offered to buy mine...including my best friend's ticket as well. So...why not?

It was an interesting night. It sorta felt like a dream...or more like twilight zone. I saw people that I didn't even know I went to high school with and some people who I didn't realize how much I missed. The best part? I was with some of my best girlfriends.

I do miss my high school days and sometimes wish I could do it all over again.

The all-night cramming before a big test.
Football and basketball games.
Cheerleading performances at the big rallies.
Cutting a class when I didn't finish an assignment that was due. {seriously, the ONLY time I ever cut school}
Running for Homecoming Queen.
Prom.
Gathering with my closest friends at lunch time.
Falling asleep in History class.
Senior portraits.
Senior trips.
The gossip.
The drama.

What are your favorite high school memories?

  1. That so crazy that you wrote a blog posts on high school reunions. I've only been out of high school for 3 years but the people I was close friends with just recently invited me to mini reunion at a friends house.
High school was some of the greatest times in my life. I don't think we realize just how great is is until we have already graduated.
    Great post!

  3. Following you back from the MBC. I didn't go to my 10 yr reunion. No point, just like you said. I already talk to anyone I care to talk to.

  5. You look great in the pictures. I treasure all my high school memories a lot. I miss dear friends. But unfortunately i can't attend my high school reunion which i would have loved to, because i don't live in the country where i went to high school. But the beautiful memories will live with me forever... Thanks for visiting.

  7. Leaving!! Hahaha, I was never a fan lol and like you said I am friends with who I want to be friends with from school so attending my 15 yr reunion wasn't important for me a couple of years ago. You look great and I'm glad you enjoyed it in the end!!

  8. I'm with Kerry - escaping high school was one of the happiest days of my life. University was much more fun and there are many days I'd like to do it over again!
